Club Captain's Message

As Club Captain of New Ross RFC I would like to personally welcome all players, supporters, parents and visitors to FBD Park, Southknock for the 2021/22 season. I am again greatly honoured and privileged to represent this great club in a role that means a great deal to me. This will be my 19th season pulling on the red of New Ross and I’m as excited for the season ahead as I was for my very first.

It is important to me to acknowledge the dedication and commitment from all the club officers/committee members. Tireless work behind the scenes from these great people is the foundation the club is built on. Led by our President David Burke, who I am delighted to see staying on in the role, I hope to support you all to the best of my abilities.

As a team we are in a little period of transition right now, but its refreshing and exciting to see lots of young players come through the youths ranks and play first team rugby. Hopefully these young players will prosper and be the backbone of the senior squad for many years to come. Our underage system continues to develop not only ability but character and the huge credit for this must go to all of our youth coaches.

I wish our coaching team of Derek Furness, David Brennan, Gordon Doyle and Jack Brennan, great success for the new season. Never under estimate how much us players appreciate the hard work and dedication that you bring to the table.

Finally I would like to thanks the supporters for the continued support. Whether it be for the men’s, ladies or underage teams, your support is greatly appreciated and makes running out on to the pitch all the more worthwhile for all involved.

I look forward to seeing you all over the coming season.
