GODFREY HILL MEMORIAL BLITZ

New Ross RFC recently held a spectacular rugby blitz for boys and girls aged from 6 to 12 years if age. This was the Godfrey Hill memorial Blitz, so named in memory of Mr. Godfrey Hill, who is credited with forming the minis section of the club, who sadly passed away last year. The attendance of players was phenomenal ….nearly 600 in total. 9 clubs were represented and thirty teams were on the pitch. This blitz was unique as there were clubs from two provinces, Munster and Leinster.

Thankfully the weather was favourable and, due to the tea and coffee stands, the barbecue area and the bouncy castles, a party atmosphere was created. Mike Quinn from the club, took on the huge task of organising the event. It has been acknowledged by all present that he did a magnificent job and it is hoped that it will now become an annual event. There have been several messages of appreciation from the clubs who participated.

We also believe that a record has been created for New Ross in that  nearly 600 players have participated in the same sport at the same time. New Ross RFC wish to thank all the volunteers who helped in any way on the day and also the clubs who took part and made the event a huge success.
